How functional training transformed Kristen's life

Image Description

Kristen was a busy mum, lacking energy and feeling unmotivated. It was when she discovered functional training that her fitness routine, health and fitness was completely transformed.

“My Fernwood journey started in January 2018, I when I joined a six-week functional training challenge at Fernwood St Agnes. It proved to be one of the best decisions of my life!

Working full-time and being a mum, I had slipped into a rut and was just dealing with life day by day. I was definitely heavier, was lacking energy and was nowhere near as strong as I am now.

After the challenge, it was clear functional training was what I needed to get results. I have lost 13kg, gained muscle and definition, reduced body fat percentage, reduced my BMI and visceral fat levels and have increased my fitness in general.

The most challenging thing was planning to fit in the training sessions around work, running our family business and being a mum to a busy 7-year-old. My husband and I sat down and came up with a roster of when I would be able to go to the gym and we just made sure we stuck to it.

12 months on, I regularly attend five to six classes a week and I would say that I am now the healthiest and fittest I have ever been. I'm pretty impressed with that as I am turning the big 4-0 this year!

Hard work and dedication have definitely been a big contributor to my success. The support from my husband and daughter has kept me going, but the biggest key to my success is the support and encouragement from the staff, trainers and members, they are amazing! I have made great friendships with members that will only grow stronger as we continue to train and support each other in hitting our goals.

My love and passion for Fernwood has grown so much that I wanted to help other women like me, so took up the opportunity to work at the club. I’m also currently studying my Cert III in Fitness to take my passion even further.

My future at Fernwood is pretty much unlimited. I know it's cliché but I am planning and being fit and fab at 40.

Fernwood has completely changed my life! I am a happier person, a better mum and wife and happy with myself. I feel extremely confident and know that I can tackle anything I put my mind too.”
