On joining the challenge…
I was already close to my goal weight, but I needed motivation and something to keep me on track so I could lose the last few kilos, tone up and increase my strength and fitness. The challenge was exactly what I needed.
On the ongoing impact of the challenge…
My improved eating habits have continued. I learnt so much valuable information, how could I not use it? At the start, I struggled, but it was so good to have a food coach to educate me about eating right for my body type. Not all foods are made equal, even with similar kilojoule counts, and this was an eye opener. Little things like planning my meals and exercises so I can stick to my workouts have changed my life.
On how interacting with the online community helped her succeed…
The challenge community were my support group. It included family, friends, other challengers and non-challengers. My interactions became a documentation of my journey, not just during the challenge, but beyond. Checking into my club on Facebook, staying updated with Fernwood tweets and posting my fitness photos on Instagram really allowed me to have access to all avenues of support and information. It was really great to see how many people supported me. I really felt that was what made the difference.

“Document your journey from the start. Sometimes it’s difficult to see small changes but things like measurements, photos and even recalling thoughts and feelings from a journal will help put things into perspective.”
