Meet Louise: 28 Day Breakthru success story

Louise White

Name: Louise White
Club: Fenwood St Agnes, SA
Program: 28 Day Breakthru
Starting weight: 71.6kg

What was your health and fitness like before starting your 28 Day Breakthru, and what is it like now?

Before starting my 28 Day Breakthru I wasn’t very fit and I felt tired all the time. I always thought I was too busy and never had the time, especially with a toddler. Since completing this program I have a ‘can do’ attitude. I don’t feel as lazy or tired all the time. I feel energetic and very happy with how my body is starting to look. I am much more organised when it comes to meal planning, not just for me, but my whole family. I am now a lot more aware of healthier food options and what works for my body type.

What was your ‘light bulb’ moment - the decision that drove you to do the program?

My light bulb moment was when I was running late one morning and I ran to the bus. What shocked was how puffed out I was. I thought to myself, ‘I’m not even 30 and so unfit.’ It scared me, so I decided that I wanted to get fit and healthy so I could enjoy life and have better quality time playing and running around with my daughter.
After attending the gym for a few months I wasn’t really seeing any change (I had not changed any of my eating habits or lifestyle). I saw the posters around the gym for the 28 Day Breakthru and decided this was the push I needed and the weekly weigh-ins would keep me accountable. After the first days went by I was so excited and couldn’t wait to receive the new weekly meal plans and new recipes to try.

Why did you choose Fernwood and the 28 Day Breakthru over other gyms or programs?

When I dropped into Fernwood St Agnes for a visit, I loved it. I didn’t look elsewhere. It had a great atmosphere and the staff members were friendly and made every effort to make me feel supported and motivated.

When I joined, I just missed out on signing up for the 12 Week Get Foxy Challenge. I saw all the dedicated people in the gym which really motivated me to continue to attend. Towards the end I could see the great results they were getting so when I saw a poster for the 28 Day Breakthru, I knew it was for me.

What was the best part of this program?

The best part of this program was how you could log in and see the recipes and motivational videos from anywhere.

What was, or has been, the most challenging thing about the program?

Having the determination not to let temptations around home or the workplace suck you in! (Especially those morning teas, and the chocolate bars hiding at the back of the pantry.)

What has been the biggest thing you have learnt thus far?

That I have a lot more inner strength than I thought. When you start to see results it motivates you to continue and push through any of the bad days.

What do you think was your key to success?

Being organised. Planning the week ahead, doing the food shopping for everything I needed and making the time to prepare the food and do the exercise.

How has losing weight, getting fit, and being healthy changed your life?

I am so much happier and more outgoing and I’m not afraid of summer coming up – bring on those skirts and shorts! I look forward to going to the gym now and – although I have finished the 28 Day Breakthru – I have continued with most of the meals.

What aspect did you enjoy most from the 28 Day Breakthru?

The meal plans – I was able to experiment with new and exciting foods, some I had never heard of before.

Did you find that your mindset changed over the course of 4 weeks, if so how?

Yes. Originally I was dragging myself to the gym, screwing my face up at the thought of different foods. Towards the end I was looking forward to attending the gym and dare I say it… a little excited for the meal plans to be sent through.

Did you find the meal plans easy to follow?

Yes very easy. There were substitute recipes and snacks available to me if I did not like that particular food that was listed on the meal plan.

What advice would you give to someone thinking about joining Fernwood or doing the 28 Day Breakthru?

DO IT – It’s only 28 days and you’ll be surprised to see the results. Be organised and make the time for you! You will feel a lot better for it.
