Motivation for doing the 12 Week Challenge

Weight loss was my number one priority. I felt my weight had gotten out of hand – I was heavier than I was when nine months pregnant with my first child, and there was an inch between the ends of the waistband on my work pants when I tried to do them up. I wanted to fit back into my clothes, and have more energy.

Low point

I struggled with joint pain in my knees, but I kept adapting exercises so that I could still do as much as possible. Doing RPM five times a week was the biggest challenge, but this was the only cardio class that I could do to achieve my goals.

Most enjoyable aspect

Meeting all the other ladies participating in the challenge was great. I also really enjoyed the sessions with Stacey Waters, my food coach.

Key to success

Sticking to the plan set out by my PT – five cardio sessions a week, plus some strength training – and learning to eat for my body shape, and about portion sizes, from my food coach. Some of the ladies who lost a lot of weight in the first four or five weeks were very inspirational.

Biggest surprise

How well I could perform in the beep test – I could run! I could also do more than 50 push-ups in one minute.

Next goal

Maintain my weight and build up some more upper body strength.
